P.R. Rajagopalan(1990-1992)

I took over the presidency of IAGC from Omi Hasija who was the previous president. The year 1989 was a notable one due to the fact that Charleston was hit by Hurricane Hugo. Approximately *)% of residents had suffered some damage. In addition, the IAGC Gala that was scheduled for September 1989 had to  be postponed. With considerable help from the members and the help of patrons, it was postponed May of 1990. This was a roaring success .

During this term, the first IAGC news letter was started with the help of Dr. Subbi Mathur who was the secretary and Ms Sheil Dhir who designed the masthead for the news letter. Subsequently, with the consent of the membership, the IAGC scholarship was initiated.  This was a competetive award  designated for a raising high school senior. The first recipient was Ajay Sood who is now a practicing Psychiatrist in Charleston.

On the whole, those two years were challenging and eventful. however, we made it through.
